Science Olympiad


The Science Olympiad is currently without a chair for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested in becoming the chair or a co-chair, or simply helping find volunteers to get this program running for Winter 2020, please email Thank you!


  • Available for students in grades 3-5
  • Kind of like the real Olympics, but the countries are the different elementary schools, and all the events are teams of 2 
  • There are two main types of events, studying events and building events
  • Sample Building Events:
    • Paper Airplane Building
    • Egg Drop
    • Bridge Building
  • Sample Studying Events:
    • Astronomy
    • Anatomy
    • Orienteering
  • Video from a previous year


  • Sign up deadline is typically late January
  • Tournament date is typically late spring
  • Practices are self determined per group of 2.  Usually once a week or every other week.


  • The main event will be at a local school
  • Practices are at your house

How to participate:

  • Contact Jeanne Martinez or for more information
  • Find a partner or ask Mrs. Martinez for help finding one
  • Work with Partner to pick 1, 2 or more events
  • Practice events for the next 2 months
  • Go for the Gold Medal at the final event
