Descriptions

Mondays: Chess Club with Snow’s Chess Academy (Grades 1-3) CLASS FULL
Beginner’s chess provides new or beginning students of chess a strong foundation in the rules and strategies needed to play the game, including an introduction to the board, the pieces, and how each piece moves. Students will have both time for instruction and plenty of time for play! CLASS FULL

Tuesdays: Reading Club with Mrs. Doley (Grades 1-3)
This club is for anyone who values time to relax, eat snacks and rest after school while listening to a great story. We will decompress from the day while Mrs. Doley reads aloud longer chapter books appropriate for the early elementary grades. A Roald Dahl book will be part of the plan, along with  a more contemporary title called “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown. Please join us as we de-stress and enjoy engaging books.

Tuesdays: Origami with Ms. Choi (Grades 3-6)
Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into fun shapes and figures. It helps to develop hand-eye coordination, attention skills, patience, and problem solving abilities.  It is also a great mindfulness task and stress reliever; plus it’s fun!! Join Ms. Choi on Tuesdays after-school to craft your own amazing pieces to take home every session. Make a paper Pikachu, a ring out of a dollar bill, blooming flowers, and more! Test out different paper airplane folds and let’s see whose can go the farthest! All skill levels are welcome, so bend, fold, flip your way into Origami Club.

Thursdays: Reading Club with Ms. Medlicott (Grades 4-6)
Are you looking for something to do on Thursday afternoons? Do you like to read and hang out with awesome people? Then this is the place for you! After voting upon a book to read, our book club members will read the book together and meet each week to talk about our favorite parts, ask each other questions about characters, and have fun together! At our last meeting, we will write a letter to the book’s author and will have a celebration party with snacks, games, and pictures that all go with the theme of our book. Join our book club if you love to read, if you are not sure if you like to read, or even if you don’t like to read – and we will convince you otherwise.
