Help Get Safer Routes to School – October 30th Meeting

Due to weather, this meeting has been canceled.

There will be two public hearings the night of Tuesday October 30 before the Transportation Safety Commission (TSC). The meeting will be in Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of Town Hall (across the street from Vienna Elementary) at 8:00 pm.

1. Crosswalk safety improvements for Cottage Street. This will be an early item on the agenda – maybe by 8:10 pm. The goal is to enhance the safety of pedestrians using the crosswalk on Cottage Street on the uncontrolled intersection at Elm & Cottage. The proposed solution will likely also improve safety at Battle and Cottage.

2. W&OD trail safety. The purpose of the hearing is to identify safety issues on the W&OD trail so that Town Council can ask the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority to seek trail wide solutions. This could potentially be a long public hearing if there is a good turnout.

If you can’t attend the meeting but want to provide input, you can do so by sending an email to the TSC clerk, Sarah Wick:

It is suggested that you use “October TSC Public Hearing” as the subject line and include a first sentence similar to “I cannot attend this month’s public hearing on <the Cottage Street & Elm Street crosswalk> / <W&OD Trail safety>, so please pass this email on to the commissioners for consideration and inclusion in the public record.”
